Property Description

Dropla is a very picturesque traditional Bulgarian village, located approximately 12 miles from both the historic fishing and resort town of Balchik and the large provincial town of Dobrich. It is an extremely tranquil place surrounded by wheat, corn and sunflower fields, which are quite dazzling in the summer. Village life here has remained largely unchanged for centuries – the people are very friendly and welcoming and the only real traffic in the streets are by donkeys!

Balchik town offers all of the facilities you would expect of a resort, but retains a traditional peaceful fishing town. Balchik has many attractions, such as Queen Marie of Romania’s summer palace, the famous Botanical Gardens and the Shark water park.

Dobrich has an extremely lively pedestrianised area with amazingly cheap yet cosmopolitan cafes, bars and restaurants. The shopping is also excellent. Just off the main pedestrian thoroughfare is the “Stariya Dobrich” (Old Dobrich) area, where historic nineteenth-century houses line cobbled streets and craftsmen demonstrate their traditional trades.

This two-bedroom house is situated on the edge of the village and sleeps up to six people. The two bedrooms have twin beds, and there is also a two-seater sofa bed in the living area. There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and a bathroom with shower. The house also offers a large outside BBQ and patio area for eating and sunbathing.

There is a new traditionally styled Bulgarian tavern in the centre of the village, just 5 minutes walk from the house, serving excellent food. Car hire is recommended, although regular bus services operate to Dobrich, Balchik and General Toshevo.
